mismatched

Hope your new year has gotten off to a fantastic start! I've been fairly busy since returning to the Lone Star State. One of my roommates and I have been out at least three times since New Year's Day and that's pretty much more than we went out the entire month of December. Since my only real "resolution" was to get out of the house more, I would say I am starting out quite well.

Anyway. . .

I love mismatched china. I've seen a lot of people wanting mismatched plates and such at their wedding, but I really dream of mismatched plates for everyday use.

I love opening up a cabinet and having choices. Some days you just feel like a blue plate and some days you feel like a green plate.

I've always dreamed of the day when I would have a full set of china, just one plate at a time, but hadn't really made much progress toward the goal (except by way of mugs). When I found this bowl the other day I thought why wait to start my collection?

This bowl is just too perfect, and for $4 at TJ Maxx I began my mismatched china journey. I hope it works out. My mom says it isn't practical, but pshaw I say! 2013 is the year for making dreams come true! Huzzah!

I like mismatched plates. My sister has Fiesta dishes, and they're in all sorts of colors. It makes me happy to pick different colors :)

I would disagree with your Mum - mismatched plates/crockery is perfect, if you break one it's no biggie but if you have a fancy pants full on dinner service, if you break one of those babies and that fancy pants dinner service you paid a fortune for is no longer stocked in the shops, what have you got? A very expensive dinner service which is pretty much useless for a dinner party. Go with mismatched all the way!

I love a mismatched look–that's coordinated, of course, because I'm uptight! I'm going to inherit a gorgeous rose china pattern, and I already know how I'm going to mix it up!

Oh wow, I recently started this same endeavor -- I'm doing a yellow and mint palette.
